In short, they are both top of their respective lines and equally as good as each other. I bought Sigma, mainly because of better after-sales service here in New Zealand (Aotearoa), and have been delighted with it. The whole point of a fast 2.8 zoom in this range is to be used wide open. If price difference is not a big deal, ask your dealer what his choice would be, and be guided about what he says about each respective distributor. But do buy one, it will fast become one of your most favourite lenses...as it has mine.
