I've shot quite a bit of motorsports with the K 400/5.6 and find that
that much focal length is needed at most races, even from the restricted
photo areas. Sometimes I even use it with a 2x converter. Here's a shot
with the 400/5.6 and the A2XS converter from the 2000 Long Beach CART
race. The 400 was between f8 and 5.6 with a 1/1000 shutter speed with
800 asa color negative film.
