Not really a bad practice to use with any camera using studio lights.

Another way to screw up:  when shooting in the studio, on manual, switch
lenses and forget to set the new lens.  If the lens is set to A, and the
studio is dim, you (me, actually) will be many stops over.  In future, I'll
set out all the lenses I'm planning to use, and set them after taking the
flash reading.
