Ok..
So.. I've only been doing the "develop my own" thing for the past few
months.. and I decided to go scooting back to trying Ilford HP5 plus after
fellow TOPDML / TOPUG user Frank Theriault mentioned how inexpensive the
film was at our local camera shop (3 rolls of 36, $9.99 CDN) - well, after
my first round of developing in T-max developer I was "sort of" impressed,
merely because it has some nice grain to it.

I decided to follow the specs and try out Perceptol to decrease the grain a
bit - I was REALLY impressed this time around.
I've uploaded a test image from one roll - just one evening at the local
bar.. available light..50 mm at about f2 (if memory serves me correctly)
with the LX.

I really really like this film and now I remember what it was like back in
high school when we used to use it for everything (snapshots, yearbook etc.)

What I want to know is - why is it that T-max and the other T grain films
remain so popular if the beauty of images from old school films like HP5
plus are so nice to look at already ?

I also want to know if any PDMLer has tried or is using Pan F or FP4 plus as
I'd love to give these a try as well - best results perhaps in Perceptol as
well ?

Cheers,
Dave
