If I had to start from scratch now, I might choose Minolta, Canon or Contax. However, I have been using Pentax for 10 years and see not practical reason to switch. I do landscape and family photos only and the latest technology is not that important to me. Dated AF ability is enough to choose Minolta 7 over Z-1p for most people. In terms of technology, Minolta 7 is also way ahead of Z-1p. But then again, I don't dump my Z-1p just because it's inability to track fast moving subjects (because I need AF for still subjects only).
