The problem is that "plastic" covers alot of territory...all the way from 
cheap milk jugs to high strength polycarbonates (i.e. camera bodies) and 
carbon fiber composites as used in F1 race cars.  While they are all some 
kind of "plastic" they are functionally not at all alike.
