No, I was referring to "target audience" - when you design a sports car, your target audience is not someone with four kids who needs cargo space for groceries, and it is not someone who doesn't have discretionary income to spend. My point is that Pentax has misjudged its target audience with the MZ-S. Clearly, the MZ-S is aimed at the top of Pentax's 35mm users - someone who has the money to afford a sophisticated camera. And that audience is more likely to care about the difference between 2.5fps and 4fps much more than your "entry-level" 35mm user. Same for features like sync speed and so on. Maybe 1% of users considering the ZX-60 won't purchase it because it doesn't have 4fps. Maybe 20% of users considering the MZ-S won't purchase it because it doesn't have 4fps. In the first case, the ZX-60 is a pretty good fit for the target audience. In the second, maybe the MZ-S isn't. Is the MZ-S a capable, well-built camera? Yes, certainly. Is it a good fit for the target audience? Maybe not. If the price of the MZ-S dropped to $600 street, and Pentax introduced a MZ-S+ that offererd 3-4fps, 1/8000 shutter, 1/250 sync, etc. at the $900 price, then I think Pentax would have a better fit with potential customers. --Mike [demime 0.98e removed an attachment of type application/ms-tnef which had a name of winmail.dat] - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
