You can always leave the tripod collar at home (as heavy as the FA*300/4.5). Besides, the F* lens hood is more compact than FA* design.Looking at what the F* 300mm is supposed to look like, I wonder how it could be comfortably handheld or even carried in a camera bag. The tripod mount is monstrous. Maybe the FA* version isn't so bad after all, guys :)
