Simon, Could you apply this patch: http://wiki.powerdns.com/trac/changeset/1623 And periodically run 'rec_control get tcp-clients' ? If you see that number increase very slowly, this is a powerful hint where we need to look for the problem. If you do not see it increase very slowly, it means we have to look somewhere else..
