That's weird. Are you sure? I checked 
http://mirror.centos.org/centos-5/5.5/os/x86_64/CentOS/ but there are no pdns* 
packages to be found. All of our PowerDNS installations have been done using 
the EPEL repository. If CentOS had pdns* packages I don't think EPEL would have 
them, since EPEL doesn't upgrade CentOS packages, but EPEL does have them: 
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/epel/5/x86_64/repoview/pdns.html
