one DNS breakthrough for me was to realize i could setup a DNS server,
have my friends point their DNS resolution at it, and thereby have our
very own private-like net using our names and crude things and all for
free, no domain registration required. if you dont want to get
popular, who needs em

now i use that concept at work for intranets

btw, DNS in OS X 10.3 seems badly broken to me via their server
manager tool. i just use the command-line instead

there is a free book online

Anyone want to talk about DNS, or LDAP? I want to get a better setup
for the first, and figure out some kind of setup for the second, and
would love to talk about both.

On another note. The Fireside Lounge seems to be getting more popular
all the time, and meetings there are getting harder to do as it is
difficult to find enough seats close together. Perhaps it is time to
start thinking about another location.

Nobody doubts his own existence, though he may doubt the existence
of God.

Others who ask whether we can know the truth have a different purpose.
They want to justify themselves in living on contented with their
petty, finite aims.

The kind as kind cannot be perceived: the laws of the celestial
motions are not written on the sky. The universal is neither seen nor
heard, its existence is only for the mind.
