Katrin,
This would be possible, but you'd need to write functions for the API
and recompile. I have done this for another eyetracker that is no
longer sold. I have access to a tobii, and if I were to put the
effort into a second eyetracker it would be their API because I can
test it and it is probably the most widespread research system. I
wouldn't expect this would be simple to do, especially for just one
task. I would love to have something like this contributed, and if you
have someone who can work in c/c++, I could give some pointers, but
communicating with systems like this is always fussy to do, and
essentially impossible if you don't have the system with you to check.
You may be able to find ways to break up each trial by having subjects
fixate on a particular location on a blank screen between
each trial. With appropriate timestamping etc you would be able to
isolate each trial then, and that might be enough, because the screen
is pretty dynamic. Otherwise, you'd have to use a screencast recording
anyway, to know what they were looking at when, and that wouldn't
require interaction.
