If I'm not mistaken, EasyTrax is simply a culled version of Autotrax,
with limited ability for track width selection and some other locked
features to reduce its productivity. It was, after all, given over to
free download at a time when many of us were just transitioning to the
Window product, and so Protel understandably didn't want to hand out the
full-blown DOS package, as they have since Windows has become the O/S of
choice. That is, unless I misunderstand the purpose of Easytrax, it's
file structure should be identical to that of Autotrax, and only it's UI
should be altered from the main package.
I don't think so. Easytrax was the first Protel product, and it was
pretty basic. I don't think it was a cut-down version of Autotrax,
Autotrax was the next generation, released later.
Easytrax *was* Tango Series I. Tango Series II was written by Accel
Technologies to compete with Autotrax, released, I think, at roughly
the same time. Tango Series II and Protel Autotrax had roughly the
same capacities, both were decent programs.
I joined the family, so to speak, with Tango Series II.
While there may be similarity between the Easytrax and Autotrax file
formats, I'm sure that the latter was more sophisticated.
