Mira,
This was strictly design issues. Some claim that they have so much
experience but I was having to teach them how to actually use their own package
based upon my knowledge from a decade ago. Not to mention defining and showing
them how to use the online DRC, they didn't know how to turn it on. Then when
it came to actual tricky design issues, well I just shake my head. It was
almost that each and every board had it's own unique land patterns for every
component, even 0603s, 1206s, SOIC8s, etc., they had no common libraries and
every design by each designer was different. You get them to correct one
board's land pattern and low and behold the next board was not updated to
reflect the corrected changes from the previous, so you do it again and again
and again. I am through with that for a while now, thank god.

PADs isn't that bad but there is a lot of stuff in Protel that we take
for granted, especially in the DRC rules capabilities.

Sincerely,

Brad,

Is PADS-2004 that bad or just the designers are not
doing what they should?

Thanks,
Mira
