There are those who, regardless of their credentials, and regardless of the efficacy of one model over another, believe in the one "standard" over the other and will fight to the proverbial death to support it. The sciences are not an area-of-interest in which there is a dearth of these folks, and rightly so. Some people think bottom-up and others top-down, fewer are those capable of both, and even fewer who actually practice both. The view from one or the other side can provide insights the other doesn't, which is essential to proper understanding of technical merits in design. Inn other words, there's a place for bottom up schematics, as that's where the technician puts his/her probes when checking for continuity during a trouble-shooting effort.
However, putting fine print (instead of something that clearly designates the schematic as skewed from its natural interpretation) on a label mounted on the top of a relay that the electro-mechanical schematic is back-asswards is plain stupid. Any and all documentation which is unclear is a problem for me. This is too often the case these days, what with more and more content being shoveled out from the Pacific rim with little or no real effort put into documenting the product in English (the language I need for understanding the product I buy), not to mention the huge numbers of people who are put in charge of documentation in general whose qualifications for documenting product is generally a language or business major. Reminds me of an old Star Trek episode in which the episode's contrasting characters were a tribe of dolts who, in their own words "make things werk". 2c, aj >-----Original Message----- >From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >[mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Abd ul-Rahman Lomax >Sent: Tuesday, January 24, 2006 2:16 PM >To: Protel EDA Discussion List >Subject: Re: [PEDA] Component Data Sheets - your wish list > >At 04:02 PM 1/23/2006, Brad Velander wrote: >>The ones that get to me are usually relays, switches or other module >>type devices.
