Hello Rene & Gerhard, i think your points are well made but as a practical matter and assuming faithful automated nightly backup procedures i have never had a problem over many years with many DDB files
ok maybe there was *one* problem i sort of recall even when using the 'internal' DDB 99SE makes external individual file backups in 2 different locations and a backup of the DDB as well so from my point of view and given the above comments there is not a major issue here in getting back data quickly with little loss of time or data yes, the DDB file date updating every time you open it is a limitation (i always thought it could be smarter about this by simply checking the internal dates and reverting the DDB after closing if appropriate) we are probably beating a dead horse here though since the whole DDB system has been abandoned - even by me (i think :) ) Gerhard, i am not really familiar with ver. control software except as a general concept if someone accidently saves an old file without making a meaningful change, how is that situation handled by the software ? i would assume it would need to Dennis Saputelli _______________________________________________________________________ Integrated Controls, Inc.
