I was working for a company with many seats of PCAD. We had the President of PCAD in to blast him about pricing 10 years ago. We complained that we were getting a ton of useless features which we paid for in yearly service charges. I believe they had some PCB pricing tools. I suggested he add accounting software in the program then we could start shutting down other departments. I am with most of you, I do not use 1/10 of DXP's capability. The stuff we use has to work and work reliably. We still have problems printing. 3 D is an issue, library management has become over complicated and incompatible between users without added management. I know because I also manage libraries for several companies. The graphics in AD6, flickers, the graphic settings are confusing. I can go on and on. AD6 needs to listen to their users. I forgot to mention my AD6 stock is almost worthless par with most of the cool features. All I want is working tools. This is my shovel, bulldozer, whatever...it is my development tool which must be rock solid and reliable. I give AD6 a D. I give 99 an F, 99SE with SP6 an A, I give the original DXP a D but DXP with SP4 an A. There is a cycle here, never purchase Altium's first release. As far as pricing .....I am talking to Mentor Graphics again. 3- 4 K is in the same range as Expedition upgrades except I can charge more for Mentor Mike Reagan
