Hi Geoff,

I have a tendency to agree with you, it has to be customized setting and/ or
specific to this design. I got ahead of myself because I didn't test it with a
second project. It is annoying right now. I tried rebooting , that didn't
help. We had many exception errors with the initial release of AD6, I was
the only person that did not have any problems. Then our crack IT team did
something to the servers. I don't know what they do but they use anything but
Microsoft. So there is no telling where my problem lies. Everyone elses
exception errors went away and I inherited some. My performance sucks now.
Exception errors are frequent on a Gateway with 4 Gig of RAM. I have a lesser
machine in my home office with 2 Gig of Ram and the performance is much faster,
and I can not recall ever getting an exception error. Then again I am using
DXP SP6 on my home office. I really like SP6 a lot. I think I need to wait
for a few major service packs on AD6 to feel comfortable with it. It literally
has too much, and too many settings. Now I am rambling

Hi Mike,

If you can reproduce that error in a consistent manner, I suggest you report
the issue to Altium, along with as precise (and brief) as possible a
description of how you actually achieve that outcome.

You are probably aware that there are many issues of this nature, and that
they are typically intermittent in nature, and hence difficult to reproduce.
OTOH, an issue of a distinctly reproducible nature has a much better chance
of being successfully diagnosed and subsequently rectified.

Because this issue might only occur with particular combinations of settings
though, it would probably be helpful if you could also provide copies of
assorted files which contain details of all of your current settings. The
(folder) path on your PC will be different (in part because you are running
AD6 rather than AD2004 SP4), but in the case of my PC, that would involve
providing copies of all of the files in this subfolder:

C:\Documents and Settings\Geoff\Application Data\Altium2004_SP4

And if there are any files in it, also providing copies of the files in this
subfolder:

C:\Documents and Settings\Geoff\Local Settings\
Application Data\Altium2004_SP4

And another (DXP Preferences) file which you should provide a copy of is
created by selecting 'DXP >> Preferences...' (from the menu) and then
clicking on the 'Save...' button in the resulting 'Preferences' dialog box.

Hi everyone,

I downloaded a free utilitiy called 'zoom with pan' which claims to be solving
the zooming problem in Protel 99.

http://www.considered.com.au/ProtelFiles/ZoomWithPan_V1_1.zip

After installing it I find that it is not working i.e. the PCB is not centered
after zooming. Does anybody know of a similar utility ?

Paresh
