Thanks Brad,
I restored the default values to the Options Preference Default Tab and
the problem went away. I must have entered some keystroke combination by
mistake that changed it.

Bob,
Just sounds to me like you may have globally changed the symbol
properties by checking the Show Hidden Fields box in symbol properties.
If that is the case then you can globally hide them all again and there
are 16 of them not 11 (maybe the others are blank, no asterisk).

However going strictly by your exact description it sounds more
likely that the "O"ptions, "P"reference, Default Tab settings have been
played with for those Partfields. In that Tab you can set the Hidden
attribute (checked) for each of the 16 Partfields. Checking the
"permanent" checkbox on this Tab makes your changes permanent, rather
than just for the present editing session. So if you run through all the
Partfields here, you can make any of them hidden ("Hide") or visible as
default when you place parts from your library.

Subject: [PEDA] 99SE Schematic parts fields suddenly appreared

I have been using Protel 99SE for several years. Last week a problem
appeared, when I place a component from my library into a schematic 11
asteriks appear beneath the component. These are all in the parts
fields, which are hidden. I can globally hide the first ten, and delete
the 11th one, but I need to do this for every component placed! As far
as I know I did nothing to cause this, and cannot find a way to turn it
off. Any ideas?
