Manual routing follows some simple rules which change depending on the focus. Some chip manufaturers have application notes concerning the application of their chips. Have a look at National semiconductor, Motorola, Linear Technology, Analog Devices and such and look out for app notes being called "High speed layout techniques" or similar.
