Okay I will take your word on that, it has been several years since I
last did it. However, I know it definitely will not link footprints, that I
guarantee 100% because it was the greatest disappointment until I got Geoff's
Addon to facilitate a linked footprint from a partfield into the footprint
field.

let me correct you here and say that P99SE will link Part Type, Library
Reference and other non-Partfields. Used it for a long while.
