I fully agree with Darren in recommending that every pin/pad within every
component should always have an unique identity, and I initially opted for
that policy after previously encountering problems when using the Specctra
autorouter (and also the Neurocad autorouter).

An issue involving non-unique pins/pads within Protel files had supposedly
been rectified some time ago (within one of the SPs released for Protel 99
SE?), but regardless of whether any changes actually had been made at that
time or otherwise, I found that there still were problems afterwards. Hence
I have continued to assign unique identities to every pin/pad within every
component, and I am still doing so.

Regards,
Geoff Harland.
