List, Nathan, Gary, all,

I'd also like to point out that, as usual at peirce-l, Gary Richmond's organizational and planning skills had a lot to do with the success. It's kind of behind the scenes, so people don't always know about it, but I know about it.

Best, Ben

I certainly agree that this was a great success and everyone who participated is organizing and delivering this seminar deserves much credit and applause. And thank you, Kees, for putting yourself in the line of fire for so many weeks.

Let me take this opportunity to also thank you Gary, Cathy, and Ben for the Ransdell issue of TCSPS. Well done.

Best,
Nathan

Subject: de Waal: Conclusion of the seminar

Dear Kees, seminar emcees, list,

Now that the seminar on Peirce: A Guide for the Perplexed (http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/17138102-peirce ) appears to be winding down (although please feel free to continue discussing any topic that's been introduced in the seminar), we would like to thank all the emcees who ably led the seminar discussions as well as those who participated in them. I also received a number of off-list emails from "lurkers" to say that they were enjoying and benefiting from the seminar even though they were not actively participating in it. Especially gratifying to me was the fact that several new voices were heard on the list, amongst which were some who joined peirce-l expressly for the seminar

Nathan Houser has been keen for a while on the idea of a seminar at peirce-l, and it has worked out well indeed. We thank him for his continued support.

In my now well over decades long involvement with peirce-l, first as lurker, then as participant, and now as moderator, I do not recall such an abundance of high level discussions over such an extended period of time. In my opinion, of all the "slow reads" and similar extended discussions which have been held here over the past decade or so, this was by far the most successful overall. The fine contextualizing prefatory material provided by the emcees surely helped catalyze the high activity and quality of the discussions so that, as we expected, it was possible to springboard off the concise material contained in Kees' short book into areas of contemporary interest and debate.

So we would again like to thank the emcees for their excellent work throughout the seminar.
