I strongly agree.  Web sites reached a peak of readability
and usability in the early 2000s.  Since then, pop ups, garbage, scams,
and brown on beige fonts have become
dominant.

        .  The new look is nice, elegant, way TOO elegant, a very
        slender-stemmed version of a font called Raleway (supplied
        through Google fonts) now predominates, it's hard to read, and
        blockquoted text is in that evanescent font in a gray almost
        exactly midway (#8a8a8a) between black (#000000) and white
        (#ffffff).  Elegance sucks, dear colleagues, classical
claritas is NOT elegance but, as Joyce
        rightfully and rightly translated it, radiance!
