The PEW charitable trust -- based on oil money -- funds a significant
share of the non-profit energy related groups in the US. Especially
the big environmental groups. But PEW has also assiduously worked the
low-income groups, funding them to keep them on the reservation.
PEW is very interested in protecting the investor owned utilities from
any impact of conservation or other environmental concern.
As a result, the big environmental groups -especially the
California branch of NRDC -- have been turned into fronts for the utilities.
And the low-income groups walk carefully lest PEW stomp on them.
