I don't think it would be fun (and definitely not productive), because they
would simply be talking past each other. PK is a theorist who uses data to
illustrate his theories, whereas WG is an empiricist, a journalist. As much
as I appreciate the latter's efforts (which is hard, since I get bogged
down as the number of facts multiplies), only an alternative theory can
trump a theory. The only way to successfully debate PK, therefore, is to
present a theory. Ideally, it would be a general theory which would include
PK's theory as a special case.
Can anyone on pen-l provide?
