A recent posting on Pen-L noted that a group of economists is now
seeking to put out a new edition of Historical Statistics of the
United States and that they are asking for input about content,
scope, and format for this volume. (I assume a new edition of
this volume will be as heavily used as the current edition).

I think that this is an excellent occasion for left economists to try
to have input on what the "appropriate" soical/economic data
is for such a volume. There is some data that is more of interest
to left economists than to mainstream economists. Such data will
only appear, however, if left economists make known their interest
in seeing such data in this volume.
