The fascist terror against the students of the Republic of Korea,
who are fighting for the reunification of the country and for the
withdrawal of all U.S. imperialist troops from the Korean
Peninsula, has been accompanied by an equal dose of fascist
propaganda that the terror and violence is justified because the
students are "pro-communist" and "defenders" of the Democratic
People's Republic of Korea (DPRK). This so-called logic proves that
the fascist authorities actually admit that their terror is both
ideologically and politically motivated.
The fascist regime of Kim Young-sam is so discredited that it
has resorted to claiming that the students do not have the support
of the people at large. The official account is more than 5,500
students arrested and thousands more who actively participated in
the reunification festival and even more thousands who were
prevented from participating. Are they not the sons and daughters
of the people? They could not possibly engage in something as
patriotic and noble as their demands signify without receiving
inspiration from their own people and soil, from the heroic Korean
struggles of the past against colonialism and imperialism. The fact
that they can put on such a heroic fight proves that it is the
fascist regime of Kim Young-sam which is thoroughly isolated from
the people.
