U.S. imperialist chieftain Bill Clinton, in his press conference on
September 3, at 8:00 am arrogantly declared that "Our objectives
are limited but clear: to make Saddam pay a price for the latest
act of brutality, reducing his ability to threaten his neighbors
and America's interests."
This gangster logic is not so much directed against the
Government of Iraq but against all the peoples and governments of
the world, threatening them that U.S. imperialism will make them
"pay a price" if they should ever threaten "America's interests."
By invading Iraq through cruise missiles and B-52 bombers, and
continuously violating Iraq's sovereignty with its F-16 fighters,
the foreign policy of U.S. imperialism is exposed as thoroughly
bankrupt. No longer is U.S. imperialism able to forge a united
front of the "West" whether against the Republic of Cuba, Libya,
the Islamic Republic of Iran or on any other major question.
Just before this bombing spree, U.S. imperialist chieftain
Clinton tried to garner the approval of its "Western" and "other"
allies. Besides Britain agreeing to provide some logistic support,
not a single other country agreed to furnish any support including
logistical. On the contrary, Jordan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and
others in the Middle East categorically refused to permit their
countries to be used as a launching pad for this aggression.
Canada, Germany and Japan merely issued some customary statements
in "favor" of the aggression, while Russia, the People's Republic
of China and many others denounced this aggression. U.S.
imperialism finds itself completely isolated at a time when it
claims to be the world "leader."
This aggression by U.S. imperialism further indicates that it
is becoming extremely desperate in the face of the growing
struggles of the peoples of the world against imperialism, and in
the conditions of the sharpening of the inter-imperialist
contradictions. At the same time, there is a swelling protest
movement in the U.S. against the anti-social offensive, as well as
burgeoning discontent against the political process, politicians
and the political parties. Pushed to the corner, U.S. imperialism
is threatening the entire world. Not a single aggressive act should
be taken lightly, without vigorous condemnation by the peoples of
the world.
Thinking people resolutely condemn the U.S. imperialist aggression
against Iraq as an affront to the peoples of the world. The entire
territory of Iraq belongs to the Iraqi people and U.S. imperialism
has no business whatsoever to dictate what the people of Iraq can
or cannot do within their own borders. By pretending that U.S.
imperialism is opposed to the Iraqi government suppressing its own
people, U.S. imperialism is giving itself the "right" to do
whatever it wants, wherever it wants. The peoples of the world can
never accept this dictate. The peoples of the world have their own
interests and they will never submit to the blackmail, threats and
aggression by U.S. imperialism. We call upon all the justice and
peace-loving peoples of the world to denounce this latest
aggression against Iraq and resolutely support the sovereignty of
Iraq.
