Cheers, ajit sinha you seem to take it as obvious that the side of democracy in this dispute is with those opposed to the leadership. i don't think this is obvious at all. in fact, based on the information we have so far, i'm inclined to think the opposite -- that the side of democracy here is on the side of those upholding the democratic decision not to make electoral endorsements. (whether or not one agrees with that policy -- a separate question.) the question i would ask of the leadership is: was such a harsh punishment really necessary? was it wise? what would have been lost with a lesser punishment? what would have been gained? -robert naiman
