According to Susan George & Fabrizio Sabelli's book, FAITH AND CREDIT: THE WORLD BANK'S SECULAR EMPIRE (Westview, 1994), the World Bank should be seen as being very similar to an organized religion. It is to the era of global capitalism as the Roman Catholic Church was to feudalism. So the WB's recent moves should be seen as an example of the ecumenical movement. -- Jim Devine [EMAIL PROTECTED] <74267,[EMAIL PROTECTED]> "A society is rich when material goods, including capital, are cheap, and human beings dear." -- R.H.
