The Pakistani parents worry that they will suffer if their children can't work. They are probably correct -- in a sense. So the rug industry can exploit their sentiments. Global competition then creates a race to the bottom so that adults cannot support a family on their wages necessitating child labor everywhere. Only global action can neutralize this state of affairs. What do non-capitalist southern opponents of anti-child labor laws find objectionable? Am I overlooking something obvious?Patrick Bond wrote: > > Sid -- or anyone, -- Michael Perelman Economics Department California State University Chico, CA 95929 Tel. 916-898-5321 E-Mail [EMAIL PROTECTED]
