In Canada, the term 'Native American' is never used, presumably because of the association between 'America' and U.S. The CBC (Canadian public radio) uses the the term 'Indigenous Peoples' most of the time; 'First Nations Peoples' seems to be the preferred term in official statements by, uh, First Nations organizations and academics (we have a programme in 'First Nations Studies'), at least in British Columbia.
