You're right to raise the issues you do, but the NYT article was interesting for a couple of other reasons - Connerly's own complicated personal relations with blackness (e.g., being raised by a white woman who thought black babies deserved to go straight into the trashcan) and his usefulness to the anti-AA forces in legitimating their effort. If he gets his way, he'll end up as one of the last and greatest beneficiaries of AA. Doug
