Doug Henwood: >Partisans of the concentration thesis always sputter when asked for >examples of the connection. A few months ago, when Michael Bloomberg made >an appearance at the Nation's offices, Eric Alterman made a remark about >concentration, and Bloomberg challenged him for an example. Alterman >sputtered, and Bloomberg's point was made. This is truly bizarre: Mike Bloomberg at the Nation. I used to write software for him back in the mid 70s when he was head of the trading desk at Salomon Brothers. Everybody hated him, especially women programmers. Bloomberg made a practice of making sexist and racist cracks at black and Puerto Rican women clerks on the trading floor, commenting on their breast size, etc. Louis Proyect (http://www.panix.com/~lnp3/marxism.html)
