Michael Meerpol left pen-l some time ago to concentrate on a book. Well he has just completed it and it is a wonderful book, entitled Surrender: How the Clinton Administration Completed the Reagan Revolution. It is now in galleys, so I assume that it will be available soon. The bulk of the book covers the Reagan Revolution is depressing detail, describing the policies, as well as the rhetoric supporting these policies. Surrender tells the story blow by blow of how the Reagan-Bush-Clinton administration succeeded in one of the great revolutions of redistribution of all time. The final chapter covers the gory details of Clinton’s massive capitulation. Much of the material might be familiar to members of pen-l, but I know of no place where all this is put together in a tight framework. The book will be published by the University of Michigan Press. Read it. Michael Perelman
