Ideology aside, on page 290 Piven and Cloward write:

"It [MFY] was later to become the model for OEO's community-action
agencies."

On the same page they refer to Moynihan's "rather muddled though more
popular account." in MFM. BTW, Cloward was research director for the MFY.
