You're partially right, but different people will be at different stages of their
understanding.  For example, Lou mentioned Cuba, but with all the hostile
propaganda about Cuba in the problems that faces from the embargo and other forces,
Cuba would not a very attractive to many people in this country.  Instead people's
development progresses by stages.  The environmental movement is a good example.  A
good number of people got started because some environmental problem, say a toxic
waste dump near where they live, gets them agitated, then they develop a fuller
understanding of environmentalism and move on to a higher stage.

I hope I did not give the impression of argument for mantras or for some pie in the
sky vision.  Instead, politics advances dialectically -- sometimes looking at the
big, sometimes a small picture.
