I don't understand the details here (other tha that US-owned TNCs prevail
over paternalistic gestures towards erstwhile colonies as a matter of
course), but isn't this WTO judgement to the effect that the US may now
impose tariffs against Euro-imports to the tune of the estimated amount
potentially lost as a consequence of a non-free-trade arrangement.  If
memory serves, the figure was $400 million.

If I've got this right, doesn't this seem a funny thing for a WTO to do?
It's authorising tariffs, therefore 'market distortions', a defiance of
'comparative advantage', and a 'globalised' world.  Wasn't expecting that
from these particular quarters at all ...

Does this mean every adjudged 'distortion' is responded to by a countering
distortion from now on?  Or have I (again) missed the boat entirely?
