Such a tack by the right would seem very vulnerable to
nationalist/populist politics.  A question is the extent to which
having a Canadian currency has proved to be a meaningful aid to
stabilization policy.  The scuttlebutt is that currencies in
continental Europe were hostage to the Bundesbank, even before
the establishment of the Euro.
