I appreciate Eric's perspective on the NLRB, as well as those who fear
clones of Clarence Thomas on the Supreme Court.

Bill Clinton -- or at least his administration -- is well to the right
of the policies of the Nixon administration, even though I suspect that
Clinton personally is well to the left in the Democratic Party.

The fault lies with us.  Nixon did the positive things that he did
because there was a spirit of militancy at the time.  I suspect that if
people were organized and militant -- such as we saw in Seattle,
Washington, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles -- even a right-wing Supreme
Court would be reluctant to take extremely unpopular actions.

I fear that we are in for four years of W. Gore might be slightly
better, but with W., the Democrats might at least behave like an
oppositional party.
