Yes.
The Democratic Party, *as a party* is a charade and a fraud. It
has one purpose for existing, and only one purpose: to form a
barrier to the rise of an actual progressive mass movement in the
United States. And it becomes harder and harder to accept the
good faith of alleged progressives in the party such as Wellstone
of Minnesota. Were there any progressives in the Senate at the
time of the "debate" on the striker replacement law they would
have themselves launched a filibuster until the legislation was
taken up for consideration. There has *never* in the history
of the Senate been a filibuster against a filibuster -- more or
less definite proof that there have been no or few progressives
in the party. I suppose in the last 50 years the nearest
approximation to a progressive in the Senate was Wayne
Morse. I can't remember any others.
