Of course, in Connecticut, the Republicans are better than in most states.
In fact, many would say that Lowell Weiker (a GOPster) was more progressive
than Joseph Lieberman, the Democrat who ousted him (and who's recently
become famous for something else).
I have a pretty good congresscritter in my district, Julian Dixon. But I
know that he's good because his district is relatively progressive, not
because he's a Democrat. If the same district were to elect a Republican,
he or she would likely be very good (though perhaps not as good as Dixon).
This tells us that the focus should be on the grass roots, not
cheer-leading for one party or another.
