Speaking of the creation story, I was just noticing that the story is
roughly arranged in accordance to the decalogue (10 Commandments.) The
first and second commandments, on monotheism, arise from the act of
creation. The third commandment on not taking the Lord's name in vain,
was violated by the snake who spoke of God in a deceptive manner. The
fourth commandment, on honoring the Sabbath, only has meaning after
Adam and Eve are banished from the garden. The fifth commandment, on
honoring one's father and mother, was violated by Cain for envying his
parents' greater favor for Abel. The sixth, on not killing, was
violated when Cain killed Abel. The seventh commandment, on not
committing adultery, was probably violated in chapter 6 of Genesis,
when God became angry at man's wickedness and caused the great flood.
The eighth, ninth, and tenth commandments, on not stealing, giving
false evidence, and coveting, respectively, are not violated in an
ordered manner that I can discern.
