whatever one thinks of the H-S pact, it's a real sign of political immaturity that an organization has so much energy & emotion investeed in foreign policy issues that the Pact would lead to such a shrinkage of membership. Similar can be said for Khruschev's "secret speech": why was the CPUSA so flimsy that a mere criticism of Stalin would lead to rapid loss of its own membership?
