Thirty years ago today Deniz, Yusuf and Huseyin were born. On that day they were executed by our 1971 junta. Deniz, Yusuf and Huseyin were the first legally executed socialists in the history of Republic of Turkey. When they were hung Deniz Gezmis and Yusuf Aslan were 25, Huseyin Inan was 23. Their only guilt was their love of their country and its peoples. They went to death bravely, in that order, kicking their own stands before it was pulled by the executioner. Today is their birthday.
