Clearly the Bush Administration (BA) is delighted with the latest Bin
Laden tape, which it has promptly acknowledged. This to them successfully
links the relevance of invading Iraq to the war on terrorism, despite the
embarrassing fact that the war against Al-Qaeda failed to capture the
number one.
For the BA, Bin Laden has played into their hands with this tape.
But few appear to be getting the message over from the peace movement
that it is the BA that is playing into enemy hands. The attack on the
twin towers in September 2001 was exactly designed to provoke the
over-reaction that Bush appears to be determined to achieve. This will
fuel the cycle of recruitment.
If the real reason for attacking Iraq is to end terrorism, why
play into its agenda?
