If this war was only the war of "the Bush folks" it would not be occurring. I am aware that many conservative and/or ruling class circles have expressed grave doubts about the war, and individuals from those circles have even opposed it sharply. But the media (including those media that have expressed doubts) have done little or nothing to counteract the gross falsehoods with which support for the war has been generated. And while the official editorial positions of a number of large papers may have been a bit mixed, their editorial page cartoons have significantly echoed the preconceptions of the big lies from Washington. The Ruling Class has, with whatever internal doubts, lined up behind this war. To continue to call it "Bush's War" is a barrier to putting forth what will have to be the anti-war movement's fundamental demand: End the Occupation NOW! Whatever administration is elected in 2004 will continue that occupation of Iraq, and will launch such further aggressions as are necessitated by that occupation. Attacks on Bush personally or on "The Bush folks" are, I think, mostly propaganda for a milataristic Democrat in the white house in 2004. The key question is not why the bush folks went to war. The key question is why the ruling class and the democratic party are lining up behind the war. Carrol
