This sector tends to be a sensitive indicator for overall employment movements. Global Insight estimates that more than 93% of the unadjusted quarter-to-quarter movement in total nonfarm employment is explained by trends in temporary help services. Global Insight expects the recent buildup in temporary help payrolls will soon translate into some slow but steady employment gains, with the more significant job creation however being delayed until the spring of 2004.
