No, that's not it at all.  This is a function of the organic composition of
capital, and the dramatic reduction in production time, and production
labor-time that the bourgeoisie have been able to impose since 1973.

At the same time, the acccounting, managing, and marketing functions become
every more critical-- thus the growth in white collar jobs.

The virtues of working "with one's own hands," surely a pathetically
petit-bourgeois notion that has nothing to do with capital which always
works somebody else's hands, or wage-labor, which exchanges its hands as a
class for something other than the direct product of the process,  has never
been anything but ideological obfuscation.
